If I get time I will separate the listing-- otherwise specify.Aji is the term for chili pepper in South America, of which it is native, and, Amarillo is Spanish for yellow. I did not grow these in pots but a good distance from Annuums and the Chinense species, ( both of which have been misnamed) even though the Baccatum's will not readily cross with those hookers who will easily screw/cross with each other. Basically gigolo's and whores in pepper speak. It is possible for crosses no matter what but not likely- meaning a thousand to one with good distance. The Pubescens species is the only true virgin of the bunch.Probably would be helpful if I gave information about the actual cultivar. The plants were some of the healthiest I grew in the charcoal, or any area. (Wood ash) I will say right up front, that here in Michigan they will not get 5-6' tall. 30 is tops. They will never get that tall anywhere with a frost unless they are overwintered. The good news is that you don't want a tall plant. You want pepper pods and even some of the itty bitty upright growing cultivars could not out do these in taste or production thereof. Unless you are in the tropics you want to space these further apart after transplant than what the official canned directions say. lest they grow together and lack air circulation which will promote disease at least in this area. The point being that whatever they lose in height will be made up horizontal instead and have a bushier plant to help protect against sun scald---And that is true with most any pepper.The fruit ripens from a light green to a yellowish orange and is about 3 in length x 1 wide. The Aji Amarillo's are one of the most popular chili's in Peru and all of South America and have culinary uses dating back 7000 years. The pods are not what I would call mild- 30,000-50,000 on the Scoville heat index. I can confirm the heat scale on these is accurate after sampling my dried flakes. The flavor is some of the best ever tested and is a unique fruity dried raisins crossed with apricot. Awesome flavor and good heat but flavorful heat. Love 'em. Habanero eaters will think they are mild. Serrano people will think they are rather hot.They are a longer maturity pepper, and I was surprised that a few of the superhots beat them to maturity. 100-110 days after transplant, but its worth the wait.
